Argentine Appy!

| Female | White/Red-Medium

Argentine Leandra is a big boned, extremely heavy wooled, full Argentine appaloosa llama - a rarity in itself. She features some of the rarest Argentine lines. Although all Argentines are rare, there is one genetic line which does not have the prolific herd sire Argentine Don Zunca, and Argentine Leandra is such a girl! Not having Argentine Don Zunca opens up a significantly different line of genetics, and we are so very fortunate to have her with us! She has the perfect conformation that we select for here at Windy Ridge Llama Ranch, and her sweet disposition is the attitude we love to see passed along to offspring. Argentine Leandra graced us with a handsome spotted son, another pure Argentine, after being bred to our own MGF Argentine Don Quixote. Their son, born in the summer of 2023, has all of Momma's appaloosa fleece and that characteristic triangular head with a perky little, short snout. Argentine Leandra had such a beautiful cria with MGF Argentine Don Quixote that there will be a re-breeding of this pair in the Spring of 2024! We will be equally excited with either a male or female cria from this awesome duo - both MGF Argentine Don Quixote and their son, ZF Argentine Don Alejandro, each have their own featured page here on the website. This family of superstar Argentine llamas will remain here at Windy Ridge Llama Ranch = you are invited to come and experience the Argentine difference!

Appaloosa yearling

| Female | White/brown/black

Bee's Dorothy had a very exciting albeit a tad scary entrance into the world. Her dam, Bee's Funcadelick Komotion (see her on this site) had been purchased in the summer of 2022 as the very first appaloosa adult female to come to Windy Ridge Llama Ranch. We had one Appaloosa male, Stonecrest Maximus, so we needed a female! We were not told that the dam had been bred but it was later learned that an elderly llama, Leo's Zeller, had been permitted to join the females' pasture of the previous owner. Evidently Leo's Zeller still loves the ladies! It was at 9 PM on April 19, 2023, when the barking of Sergei, one of the guardian livestock dogs, drew our attention to the back pasture. Fortunately, the location was close enough to see despite the snow-covered ground. There was the dam, trying to have her very first cria, smack dab in the middle of the snow! Sergei is the protector, and during births, he keeps the other llamas away from the momma, and does not leave their sides for at least the first 24 hours. Our other guardian livestock dog, Nikita (they are sibling Caucasian shepherds) then has the job of managing the rest of the pastures by herself. Herve went out into the snow with a flashlight and blankets, and he was able to slip a blanket under her just as the birthing process was about to have her drop into the snow. The beautiful little girl was then brought with her momma into the shelter, where they were able to be warm and bond together during the night. What a surprise this was, and a big thank you to Sergie for sounding the alarm! Bee's Dorothy, call name "Dottie" was named after my mother Dorothy. She had a thing about black and white, and collected little black and white keepsakes, like a little zebra mom together with her baby. So, Dorothy inherited the name! We have watched her black spots take on the brown appearance of her very speckled mom, and we are excited for when her barrel will be shorn to see the black spots again - very unique for a llama! This little girl has been getting bigger and is quite sturdy, and she has done so well with halter training, standing, and stepping nicely into and out of the trailer that she had been tapped to enter the Glacier Classic Llama Championship! She has now placed 2nd in the light wool yearling class! Though previously unaware, we now have brought all of Leo's Zeller genetics to Windy Ridge Llama Ranch! He has brought some Bolivian influence, and her momma is pure Peruvian, coming from a long line of appaloosa llamas with crazy names - like Bee's Psyched Up Dotts (grandmother), Bee's Psychedelic Dottie (great-grandmother) then back to the imports, we find "FGL Psychedelic Haze" - no wonder Dottie's an appy! So, she is a youngster, but a pretty confident little girl. Herve said he wishes all our llama were as easy to work with as Dottie. Halter on and off, walks beautifully despite4e lots of distractions, and is super chill. She also steps in and out of the trailer like she's done it all her life. Very impressive for a one year old!

Appy Heavy Wool

| Female | white/blk/red-medium

Bee's Funcadelick Komotion is our female appaloosa, purchased last summer and one of the most recent additions to Windy Ridge Llama Ranch. Her conformation is very correct, and she is just plain eye catching! One of the best things about an appaloosa is that all she needs to do is walk on by, and you just find yourself staring! The beautiful sheen and luster of her fleece in combination with her coloring makes you feel in awe! She gave birth to her first cria in April - in Montana! It was 9 pm and she surprised us by birthing her daughter in the snow, at night! Bee’s Dorothy aka Dottie is almost identical to her mom! But, when born, her spots were black and it took about a month for her coloring to have the same brown and white look like her mom. Visit Dottie’s own page on this site! She had her second cria in an easier birthing month - May - and so we are still saying congratulations for her newest little girl, born 5/14/2024 - the sire was our own Star Best Bet, and she seems to have dilute gray in her coloring!

(More than) Half Argentine Female

| Female | Brown/dilute red/dilute white

A phenotypical Argentine - sired by Argentine Pisco - and his incredible Argentine heritage - all have played a huge factor in the look of this extraordinary female. But there is more! Her mom is Tooroara RTC, with, yes! More Argentine heritage, including Argentine Fresco and Argentine Don Zunca. The rare genetics go back even further to RAR Richochet and Chilean Leroy Brown on the dam's side. So, this is one special girl. Truth be told, she is an immediate favorite due to her gentle temperament, and the indescribably soft Argentine fleece which has the usual full body coverage down to her feet. We just love the addition of this very special llama to Windy Ridge Llama Ranch! Update 6/2024: Brandy has just won a 2nd place award in the heavy wool yearling class at the Glacier Classic Llama Show - congratulations to Brandy!!

Max and Ilsa's Appy!!

| Female | White/Brown/Gray/Black

Introducing Brienne of Montana WRLR! This appaloosa is the daughter of our own Stone Crest's Maximus and Star Ilsa! Max is perpetuating the appy genetics! 2022 was the first breeding season Max and we are delighted with his first ever offspring, a white appy with brown and intense gray spots! We chose Star Ilsa to be bred by Max - Star was the first llama born at Windy Ridge Llama Ranch. Her momma, Star Premium Property AKA "Momma Llama" was purchased already bred by the famous appaloosa Star Firewalker. Ilsa seemed pure white as the snow, then we saw the faint little dilute red trademark patch on her face. She is one of the biggest llamas as Windy Ridge, which is saying a lot - we grow them big in Montana! Call name "Brienne" is a little sweetheart. She was born less a week apart from another appy here at Windy Ridge Llama Ranch, the offspring of Argentine Leandra and Argentine Don Quixote. The two look very similar. Brienne has a longer neck, in keeping with the Suri genetic line of her dam. And although she is covered in spots, she has the telltale dilute red patch on her face, just like her dam! Llama breeders often talk of the "dance of the cria" that occurs at dusk. Inevitably, one llama begins prancing and pronking about the pasture, which is quickly followed by all the rest of the cria - it is hilarious to watch! And they can be so fast! Usually, the yearlings and even an older adult will join in the fun! The cutest of this cria crop's antics has to be watching the two little white and brown cria, who look like twins, romping and playing as the sun retreats for the day.

Pure Argentine!

| Female | Brown, Med Black

Cerrado's Argentina Esmeralda is one big beautiful, sweet llama! She has come to Windy Ridge Llama Ranch, bred for the first time for a Spring 2024 birth! She has been bred to the famous pure Argentine, Argentine DeTroit. We are very excited for the outcome of this breeding, and to see if the cria will look like mom or his appaloosa daddy! We would be thrilled with a male or female, and any color will be just fantastic! Cerrado's Argentine Esmeralda, call name "Esmeralda", is 100 % Argentine with a rare line from her sire, Argentine Cerrado, bringing different Argentine genetics to Windy Ridge Llama Ranch. The Argentines in this line are Argentine Saltarin and Argentine Yecu - all of them are direct imports! Her dam's genetic tree has the more well known Argentines, including Argentine Kobra and Argentine Machi, as well as Don Zunca! We love all our llamas, but truly have a very esteemed Argentine lady here! July 5, 2024 is the projected due date for first time mom Esmeralda!! We will surely post baby pictures - more to come!

7/8th Argentine!

| Female | Brown-med/Red-med/Grey-dilute

Cerrado's Phoebe MVVR has come to us bred to Hi Rez GNLC, as part of a mother daughter purchase. Her dam is Simpatico's Penelope, featured on the website. Cerrado's Phoebe MVVR, call name "Phoebe", is a beautiful girl who has the genetic line we just love gathering at Windy Ridge Llama Ranch! Her sire is Argentine Cerrado, a full Argentine of the "rarest" blood line. (We find none of Argentine Don Zunca, or Argentine Machi in this line. We absolutely love those two very famous Argentines! However, they were so prolific in their breeding, that it is uncommon to find lines that don't include them. Argentine Cerrado is such a llama) Her dam, our very own Simpatico's Penelope, is more than 1/2 Argentine herself! The only non-Argentine in her genetic tree was a breeding of the famous Argentine Kobra's Kornerstone (Son of Argentine Kobra) to a Chilean llama, "Chilena Pinta Chica", the daughter of two direct Chilean imports, Chileno Chiri Chico and Chilena Pintaroja. This was a great- grandparent's breeding. That is otherwise a lot of Argentine in her background! Phoebe has an unusual fleece - it is a light brown, like a caramel color, but within in are splotches of white, medium gray and medium red in a dilute pattern very reminiscent of a kind of spotted llama - very colorful indeed! She also sports the full body fleece so characteristic of Argentines - and she is so very friendly! Sweet and calm - what every llama lover wishes they had in theri pasture! We are planning for this disposition to carry on to her offspring, and with such a handsome and well-known herd sire as her offspring's father, well, we are quite excited about this! We will wait to see what the cria produced from the breeding with Hi Rez turns out to be like - her due date by projections is early July 2024 - we will let you know!

| Female | Brown/Intense, Wht, Blk

CNS Mahogany is a large stately female who has given us several gorgeous cria - her first had to be named Perfection. She was a perfect mom and took great care with her daughter. As expected by her incredible genetics, she is big boned, with a straight back and beautiful conformation - heavy fleeced from top to bottom. Rebred, she next produced the shiniest silver gray male 6/24/2022, sire Star Best Bet seen here at WRLR, named Hi Ho Silver WRLR. He can be seen at this site. She was bred to Best Bet WRLR on 9/25/2022. and gave us the most beautiful little girl - Senorita Onyx y Marrone WRLR on 9/6/2023. Her cria is mostly black with some deep brown over her hips - very fancy! You can more of Senorita Onyx y Marrone on this website. She and Best Bet make such pretty babies that she may be rebred to him in the spring of 2024. She was not rebred 2 weeks after her last birth because we try not having llamas go through the whole hot Montana summer while pregnant. There is also the worry about a baby born later than Onyx might be born in the snow! CNS Mahogany has to wait a little longer to be rebred. Offspring 294126 PERFECTION WRLR Female 296595 HI HO SILVER WRLR Male 298264 SENORITA ONYX Y MARRONE WRLR Female

Black/Brown and Shiny, bred

| Female | Black/Brown

CVLR Sassy is a big girl! She has beautiful coloring, is very correct and has heavy fleece, including great leg coverage. Her genetics date back to the first imports to the United States. Her first off spring was a female cria, Victoria WRLR, who was purchased and has come to live in Alaska! She was a very attentive first time momma, with lots of milk. Sassy was bred to Lujo Has It All ABSR, 7/2/2022, and plans were for a mid June 2023 cria. But it was not to be. We did not have a cria born to Sassy last year, so she was bred again, this time to our proven herd sire, Here Comes Trouble ABSR. This was early in the spring in 2023, on 5/27, so we are anticipating a mid May birth! Let's all hope there won't be any more snow! Offspring 295460 VICTORIA WRLR Female

Silky Jet Black Champion

| Bred (Female) | Black

Wildfire has already won 8 contest divisions - a silky jet-black llama, she did very well at the Cascade. She was Grand Champion at 7 months in halter and Reserve in walking fleece. Her fiber is lustrous with an incredible sheen. In Central Oregon Llama Association's 2022 show, she won Grand Champion in walking fleece and has a whole table of ribbons from just 2 shows! She was bred last summer to our own rose gray herd sire Star Best Bet - and on June 8th, 2024, at 10 am, this maiden had a textbook birth of a beautiful jet-black boy! The whole birthing process took 17 minutes! It was awesome! It is common for first time moms to have troubles when giving birth, but all we had to do was sit there and watch. She is the perfect mom. The little boy was quickly standing and then, after nuzzling noses with his mom and all the other llamas, we let them have some space just together for bonding time. We are very impressed with his fleece already. We knew about his mom's fleece having been judged and wondered about the fleece of her potential offspring. There was no gray coloring apparent at the birth from his sire, and this rare completely black fleece is really cool looking!

part Argentine, part Suri

| Female | White/black

Freya WRLR: A beautiful llama with very distinctive features, and a very amazing genetic tree! Her face is ringed by great big black patches like a racoon with white eyelashes – too adorable! She has long banana ears that are also 2 toned – black, but each ear has a white encircling strip of white! Her barrel is black, but her hind section is white with black and gray spots, topped off with a cute black tail! Then there are those amazing WRLR genetics. Her sire is our prolific half Argentine Here Comes Trouble ABSR – the son of the famous Rastaputin, who had been paired with a full Argentine, Argentine Blue Ribbon ABSR. He is a magnificent herd sire! She is the daughter of Star Premium Property, call name Momma Llama, who is our top producer at WRLR. She has given us Star Prime Pattern, Star Ilsa, Susie WRLR, and Freya WRLR. We chose this breeding to achieve the fleece coverage and bone density of the Argentine line of the sire with the sleek and shiny Suri fleece of the dam. We did it (well, they did it!) As breeders, it is very exciting when you roll the genetic dice with the hopes that everything will line up. In this case, God blessed us with exactly what we had been aiming for. This is one very beautiful, unique, and genetically gifted llama! Although we are now listing her for purchase, she is entered to compete in the Glacier National Llama Show on June 22,23 of 2024. We would ask that we keep her long enough to show her - she'll be in a halter class as well as in the "Produce of Dam" categories, so we will see how Freya performs! Freya WRLR has been doing great on a halter, walking very nicely despite all the many distractions she is being led through (dogs barking, horses and cattle next door, and the ongoing construction projects at WRLR) - she is getting into and out of the trailer very well also. I am very hopeful for her first ever llama show! By the way, whatever ribbons she wins come with her to your ranch! Update: Freya WRLR has placed 2nd and 3rd in the medium wool class at the Glacier Classic Llama show, and placed 3rd in "Produce of Dam"and 4th in "Bred and Owned" - lots of awards and ribbons - congratulations, Freya WRLR!

She’s a keeper!

| Female | white/dilute brown

When we bred a colorful appaloosa with a rose gray herd sire, we weren't sure what color we would get! The herd sire is our own Star Best Bet, a gorgeous rose gray silky llama who has been producing some outstanding offspring here at WRLR! His color is often carried to his son or daughter. Our colorful appaloosa with the wild and crazy name, Bee's Funkadelic Komotion, call name Karma, had also already had a daughter the year before at WRLR - and Bee's Dorothy looks exactly like her mother. At first, when Bee's Dorothy was born, her spots were black, then slowly became the medium brown color, identical to her mother. This time, we had a different outcome! This beautiful little girl was born without any assistance from us. Karma is a good mom, and she knew exactly what to do. Her daughter was already up and running around the pasture when we found her! The funniest part was that Bee's Dorothy, call name Dottie, is getting almost as big as Karma, and the two of them were standing there together with the little girl! What a cute little family they are! Dottie is inseparable from Karma, and during the first night when the newborn and her mom were sheltered alone to bond in the barn, Dottie kept putting her front feet up on the French door of the barn to try to look in! Or maybe she was trying to get in! It was a much happier day for Dottie when the following morning, they were able to reunite in the pasture and now, they are all walking about together - wherever you see Karma, you see Dottie, and this new little girl! So, our newest addition is mostly white and has inklings of appaloosa, though very dilute, and I'm not calling her an appy yet! In the last few days, she seems to be developing a dilute brown patch over her spinal area and a little off to the sides, so I am giving her a little longer for her fleece to declare itself! But one thing is for certain - she is a beautiful little Karmalita!

Mandarb daughter!

| Female | Brown-Intense/White

Mandarb's Harvest Moon is a beauty! We wanted to acquire the magnificent genetics of Mandarb and jumped at the chance to have his daughter join us. Check out the 'Sire/Dam' section to view the names we have come to respect and long for, dating back to the original llama imports to the United States. Mandarb is a well-known herd sire and Harvest was bred to our own Star Best Bet, for a summer 2024 birth - and their son has been born! He is a spectacular gray cria, with the characteristic Mandarb face - white markings seen both on Mandarb's Harvest Moon, inherited from her famous herd sire father. The legend continues!

Half Argentine!

| Female | Brown-Intense/Black/White

MacKenzie Lake Havana is a very calm and conformationally correct female. She will be sold open or bred to a genetically dissimilar male upon request (breeding has an additional fee, refundable as per WRLR policy). She is gentle and was previously used in a petting zoo! Havana is a beautiful brown color, with a classic white ring of fleece encircling her neck. Call name Havana would be a wonderful pet or potential guardian llama. She is registered however, and if you would like to have Havana bred before purchase, we will make recommendations as to who she can be bred to. She walks very well on a lead and gets in and out of the trailer gracefully - we love the calmness which Argentine llama exude - even when they are one half Argentine! We can't keep them all, and as breeders, we have to let some go - this very special girl will be delightful for someone looking for a sweet, nicely dispositioned llama who is easy to work with.

Suri

| Female | white/intense red

We haven't named this little girl yet, because we want to learn her personality and see what fits! I can tell you she had a perfect, unassisted birth on a warmish Montana afternoon. Her mother is our very own Star Premium Property, call name Momma Llama, a prolific Suri llama who likes to have her color and look passed on to her offspring. This little girl looks almost identical to her momma, but as she matures, we will be watching for the bone structure of her half Argentine herd sire to present itself! Yes, her dad is the famous Here Comes Trouble ABSR, call name, what else? "Trouble"! He is one big boy, and his offspring tend to inherit that trait. Our little girl is almost completely white, but she carries the characteristic brown facial marking like her mom. It seems darker than the dilute brown color of her mom's spot, but it is undeniably there. She is one fast little girl - there are several other little crias born nearly the same day as she arrived, and it is such a joy to watch them running and pronking around the pasture as they frolic and play in the pine trees! She has the star-studded genetics of the original import linage from her dam, and the very famous genetics of her sire. Here Comes Trouble ABSR may one day be more well known that his dad, Rastaputin! He is a great producer, and paired with Momma Llama, we knew we were in for a special treat with this birth.

Mostly black/patch of intense brown

| Female | Black-intense/Brown-intense

A September birth in Montana is always risky - there is always a chance of snow. So, we were waiting out the arrival of this little girl after making it through all the summer heat, her momma, CNS Mahogany, finally had her cria on September 6, 2023. This little girl is the result of breeding CNS Mahogany with our own Star Best Bet. As she was born and throughout the next 24 hours, we thought we had a jet black cria, but realized almost like an illusion, that there is a patch of dark brown over part of her back and upper rear legs. Her fiber color is intense! CNS Mahogany is listed on this site. She is a very majestic looking llama. She is big boned with very heavy fleece, so the breeding was intentional to see what kind of fiber quality we could produce by adding in some Suri llama characteristics. Her sire, Star Best Bet, is a perfect Suri llama, and a very prolific herd sire. (Star Best Bet has his own page on this site) CNS Mahogany offspring have tended to be brown like her fleece, so breeding the rose gray Star Best Bet to CNS Mahogany, we were looking for very nice fiber but didn't know what color this match would produce! We seemed to have pulled this very jet-black color from one of her sire's ancestors, maybe Star Blacktacular! But looking closely, that blending in of brown color on her lower back and tops of her legs must be from CNS Mahogany! One thing is for sure - her fleece is very shiny, and she is starting to look like a silky, but we are still watching and waiting. Her name came as a result of friends of Windy Ridge Llama Ranch offered suggestions on Facebook. One friend came up with "Onyx" which we really liked, however, there was that intense brown area to be spoken for! We came up with her name - "Senorita Onyx y Marrone" - which added the Italian for brown into her name. She has a very big name to grow into, and we are hoping to present her in a "walking fleece" category when she's a little older!

More than Half Argentine!

| Female | White/Brown-Med/Grey-dilute

Simpatico's Penelope has a very unique genetic line, in addition to being a very beautiful and flashy llama! She is mostly white but with a big splash of dilute red over her back, upper half of her back legs and even her great big fluffy tail! There are patches elsewhere if you look, like on her face, and the knees of her front legs - what a pretty girl she is! As we love our Argentine llama combinations, it is only due to Argentine standards that she is called "half Argentine"'. Any amount of Argentine, whether 1/4 or 7/8th is still called "half Argentine"'. Her sire was the famous Argentine Simpatico, a pure and rare llama - being rare due to not having Don Zunca in his family tree! As for her Mom, Kornerstone's Pia ABSR was one half Argentine - her sire was the famous Argentine Kobra's Kornerstone, who himself was the son of Argentine Kobra himself! Those who know the genetics of Argentine llamas are well familiar with the prolific and rare Argentine Kobra, often looked at as the quintessential Argentine llama phenotype. Simpatico's Penelope, call name "Penny", has a Chilean Mom and pure Chilean grandparents - and the rest of the ancestors are all in Chile! These lines have produced a winning combination in Penny. She is big boned and has that sweet disposition we look for in Argentines. The Chilean influence has brought color and spice to the big Argentine! What you wouldn't know unless you met her face to face, is that Penny has crystal blue eyes! It is a very exotic look, and rare in the llama world! In alpaca, blue eyes are generally associated with deafness, but this is not the case with llamas. It is just a startlingly beautiful look - come for a visit and look into those stunning eyes of Simpatico's Penelope! She has been bred to GLNC Hi Rez for a summer 2014 birth - and the day before we left for the Glacier Classic, she had her beautiful daughter! A stunning color of reddish gray, which has been referred to as "brindle" - see her daughter's page on this site! What a fantastic cria!

Tall stretchy Suri,

| Female | White/dilute brown

Star Angeleena has the perfect phenotype for a Suri llama. She is tall and stretchy with a long neck and beautiful, shimmery tendrils. She has excellent conformation and genetics that go back to the original imports of llama to the United States. She has been bred for the first time last spring, and we are anxiously awaiting her first cria! Updates to come. Star Best Bet and Star Angeleena produced Gray Little Big Man, now living in Alaska with his new herd. She has been bred on 5/26/2022 to Star Best Bet, she produced for us a beautiful brown/gray male cria, named Bruno WRLR - you can see him on this website! Angeleena produces stretchy Suri offspring - her first was a gray male, Little Big Man WRLR, who was purchased and now lives in Alaska. This newest male will be retained. He has not only the Suri phenotype but he is the greeter whenever anyone comes to the pasture. Personality and sweet temperament - we just love that combination! Update** her newest son was born on 6/29/2024!! The sire is our own Sone Crest Maximus! He is all gray - a magnificent full fleece of the gorgeous gray we had been trying to produce - fantastic!!

Intense Red Headed white Suri

| Female | white/intense red

It has been said of me that my favorite Suri coloring is intense redhead with a red tail. I confess this to be true! So, this little girl is the perfectly proportioned Suri llama that I had searched for - Star Applause. She just turned two in April 2024, and she is a head turner! She has the intense red coloring which is sharply contrasted by her glistening pure white fleece tendrils. A tall girl with a Suri stretchy neck, Star Applause is exactly what I love about Suri llama. She has some heavy hitters in her genetic tree - with an appaloosa sire, Star Llama's famed Star Firewalker, and the elegant Star Amazon Myth, who is the daughter of Castlerock's Chilean Contraband - there is a very long line of the preserved imported line that Star Llama is famous for. Star Applause is getting taller every day! Perfectly balanced and proportional, and the phenotype that one seeks in a Suri llama. Star Applause is headed for her first llama show! She will be entered into the Glacier Classic Llama Show in just a few months - she has been a little spooked when the dogs bark, or if you step on a twig when walking her. She is a bet of an introvert who stays close to Herve as he walks her. We will see how she does in a show - does she have the temperament to be in the show ring? Come and find out! We will keep you posted - will shy Applause become the showstopper we think she can be?

from the original imports!

| Female | Bown/medium white

Star Artina II - we fell in love with this beautiful llama when we first saw her baby pictures, and when we learned that Star Llama in Dundee, Michigan was willing to part with her, well, we had to have her here at Windy Ridge Llama Ranch! She has the sweetest face! When you come into the pasture, she wants to rub noses right away! Aside from her gentle personality, she is a very pretty girl. She is a cocoa color brown color mostly overall, but with surprising splotches of white seen throughout her fleece on her back and sides! Star Llama called her a "dilute appaloosa", but whatever we call her fleece color, she sure is pretty. She is also young and came to use in the spring of 2023, destined to be bred but not right away. She was still a teenager! The Brants are known for having kept pure genetic lines, as they were some of the few importing llamas as the US came to first know about these elegant creatures! Star Artina II, call name "Artina", has an appaloosa herd sire named Star Firewalker, so no wonder about those splotches of white in her fleece! Her dam is the beautiful Star Art Angel, a daughter of Star Synthesis. another of my favorite Star llama. We will breed the lovely Artina in the spring of 2024 if she looks to have attained full height and stature. She has climbed the steep and rocky terrain of her Montana home for over a year now, so she has become a big and sturdy Montana llama! Updates about her future breeding will be posted!

Exotic , bred

| Female | White/dilute brown

Star Ilsa is the rare offspring of Star Firewalker and Star Premium Property. We had purchased Star Premium Property as a bred female with a female cria, Star Prime Pattern, at her side. Star Ilsa began as a pure white llama, but developed a small patch of dilute brown, like her mom, on the left side of her face. She has grown into a huge llama, almost one of our largest females. She is perfect in conformation, walks well on a lead, and is the llama everyone wants to see when they come to visit us. She has blue eyes, and looks very exotic as a result. Unlike alpaca, where blue eyes are often associated with deafness, this is not the case with llama. She has been bred to one of our best herd sires - Here Comes Trouble ABSR. This is one breeding we were really jazzed about - Trouble is proven and is one big, gorgeous Argentine llama - massive! Ilsa, our fair maiden, has grown up after being born here at Windy Ridge Llama Ranch, and is huge! Due to her size, there was really only one herd sire big enough for this breeding. Their son is Trouble Spot, born 7/2/2022, a gorgeous male featured on this site. Star Ilsa has been bred to Stonecrests Maximus and their pairing produced a magnificent female black and white appaloosa - Brienne of Montana, WRLR! You can see her on this website on her own page. We were so excited with this breeding that we will be repeating it again this year! Offspring 296596 TROUBLE SPOT WRLR Male 298263 BRIENNE OF MONTANA WRLR Female

Beautiful Proven Suri - great genetics

| Female | white/brown-dilute

Star Premium Property, aka "Mama Llama" came to us bred with a female cria by her side. Since then she has given us another female cria, Star Ilsa, and a handsome boy, Cyrus. Last summer, Mama gave birth to Susie WRLR, another llama with perfect conformation and the winning look of all of Mama's cria. Mama Llama is a perfect mom, and in her own right, a beautiful Suri with some dilute brown which she tends to carry in her offspring, except for Star Prime Pattern, who is a gorgeous milk chocolate brown almost all over. She has the genetic distinctiveness we have all come to expect from the Star Llama Ranch, back to those original imports to the United States, including Peruvian Keno. We gave Mama a break from breeding, to let her hormones take a rest after being bred each year for the last four. She was bred on 5/23/2022, after having a year off from producing, to our enormous and awesome herd sire, Here Come's Trouble, ABSR, and produced Freya WRLR, a beautiful girl born on 5/14/2023. She can be seen on this website on her own page and will be entered into her very first llama show in June 2024 - the Glacier Classic Championship! Mama has been rebred to Here Comes Trouble, ABSR, once again! They make gorgeous cria together! We are very excited and looking forward to another beautiful cria from this, our most prolific Suri llama - she has earned that name "Mama Llama"!! All of her cria can be seen here at this site. Update: They did it again! Mama has given birth to a beautiful daughter, who looks identical to her mom, although the trademark dilute red marking on her cheek has been accentuated in her daughter - now named "Sweet Cheek WRLR"! See how awesome she is on her very own page! Since they make beautiful babies, Mama has just been rebred to Trouble - looking for the newest Here Comes Trouble ABSR offspring summer 2025!

heavy wool, bred

| Female | Brown-dilute/White

Star Prime Pattern, aka "Star," came to us alongside her Mama when just 4 months old. She has grown up to be a beautiful shade of brown with a splash of white on her face. She is huge! We were quite surprised when she outgrew her Mama. She had a first cria which unfortunately did not make it, and this was in 2022, we waited to rebreed her until last summer, on 5/27/2023. Star was bred with our own Here Comes Trouble ABSR. He is a proven herd sire, and we are so hoping that this year, in the very near future, that Star will have her own little "star" like all the other mommas in the pasture. Please join us in the hope that Star will have a healthy cria in May 2024 - we will let you know about this very much anticipated cria!

Rare Argentine bloodline

| Female | Red-Intense/Black

ZF Argentine Ursula is a stunning and gentle full Argentine llama. Her fleece coverage is so dense and soft - Argentine llama fleece is 100% usable from the entire body, prized by spinners, like me! This is a big girl who just turned three this year in June and she is so easy to work with. She seems to enjoy being handled, unlike some other llama, which is part of that sweet disposition that Argentines are known for. Her fleece is an intense red, and her face is black - truly a gorgeous llama! Uniformity of color is very desirable, and while in some parts of South America, alpacas are used for fiber, and llama for meat and packing, Argentina has fewer alpaca and has turned to llama for fiber production. Thus, the importance of quantity of usable fiber plus the fiber diameter to be soft enough to use in garments against the skin. The demand for natural colors by the textile industry has increased along with the worldwide trend towards consumption of eco-friendly products. In this context, the vast diversity of natural colors offered by domestic South American camelids results very attractive for the current market. Her genetic tree is one that is sought after as the rarest of the rare Argentine line. We would like to keep at least a few llamas with only this genetic line. ZF Argentine Ursula, call name ""Ursula", has a sire whose genetics only go back to his own parents! Her sire is MGF Argentine Lucero, and his parents were Argentine Paco and Argentine Laucha - both direct imports. Ursula's dam has a similar rare genetic line - no evidence of the prolific Don Zunca or Kobra, or even Machi - this is a very rare girl! Her dam is Argentine Bella, and going back one generation, we find Argentine Valentin, the son of the famous Argentine Saltarin. No wonder Ursula has such a perfect body composition and those big boned, phenotypic Argentine features! You can come to visit Ursula as she is calm and easy to walk around the pasture!
