Suri Male Rose Gray

ILR# 292897 DOB: 10/18/20176 yrs
This proven herd sire has an amazing rose gray fleece - he is a silky, and I put the first picture in from when he was younger since it better captured the lighting - I have tried but my pictures don't do him justice! He has perfect conformation, and the Star genetics of both Kantu P5 and Peruvian Keno PC - this is a rare bloodline, thanks to Star Llama for being one of the first to import llama and preserving these amazing genetics. His rose gray coloring is in itself rare, in addition to being ...

Heavy Wool Female Brown/Intense, Wht, Blk

ILR# 289300 DOB: 3/30/20168 yrs
CNS Mahogany is a large stately female who has given us several gorgeous cria - her first had to be named Perfection. She was a perfect mom and took great care with her daughter. As expected by her incredible genetics, she is big boned, with a straight back and beautiful conformation - heavy fleeced from top to bottom. Rebred, she next produced the shiniest silver gray male 6/24/2022, sire Star Best Bet seen here at WRLR, named Hi Ho Silver WRLR. He can be seen at this site. She was bred to B ...

A September birth in Montana is always risky - there is always a chance of snow. So, we were waiting out the arrival of this little girl after making it through all the summer heat, her momma, CNS Mahogany, finally had her cria on September 6, 2023. This little girl is the result of breeding CNS Mahogany with our own Star Best Bet. As she was born and throughout the next 24 hours, we thought we had a jet black cria, but realized almost like an illusion, that there is a patch of dark brown over part of her back and upper rear legs. Her fiber color is intense!

CNS Mahogany is listed on this site. She is a very majestic looking llama. She is big boned with very heavy fleece, so the breeding was intentional to see what kind of fiber quality we could produce by adding in some Suri llama characteristics. Her sire, Star Best Bet, is a perfect Suri llama, and a very prolific herd sire. (Star Best Bet has his own page on this site) CNS Mahogany offspring have tended to be brown like her fleece, so breeding the rose gray Star Best Bet to CNS Mahogany, we were looking for very nice fiber but didn't know what color this match would produce! We seemed to have pulled this very jet-black color from one of her sire's ancestors, maybe Star Blacktacular! But looking closely, that blending in of brown color on her lower back and tops of her legs must be from CNS Mahogany! One thing is for sure - her fleece is very shiny, and she is starting to look like a silky, but we are still watching and waiting.

Her name came as a result of friends of Windy Ridge Llama Ranch offered suggestions on Facebook. One friend came up with "Onyx" which we really liked, however, there was that intense brown area to be spoken for! We came up with her name - "Senorita Onyx y Marrone" - which added the Italian for brown into her name. She has a very big name to grow into, and we are hoping to present her in a "walking fleece" category when she's a little older!
