Brown/silver Silky Llama

| Male | brown/silver

Bruno WRLR is just about the friendliest llama at Windy Ridge Llama Ranch! He is so inquisitive! You open the gate into the pasture, and he will be the first to come and say hello! Bruno was the result of the pairing of our own Star Fortress (seen on this site) and Star Angeleena (also seen on this site). Bruno has the most unique coloring - he is a coppery brown with an intense gray face, topped off by silver tipped ears! He is just the cutest boy, but there is so much more to love aside from his personality and coloring! Bruno WRLR has inherited his elegant dam's phenotype: Star Angeleena is a perfect Suri llama. Tall, graceful, with coiled and long Suri tendrils with a super long, stretchy neck - all of her offspring to date have carried that fantastic body type - Bruno WRLR is a tall and stretchy Suri llama like his parents. I did not mention that his sire, our Star Fortress is a handsome Suri herd sire who bears the same unique Suri phenotype as Star Angeleena, so Bruno WRLR was the genetic winner of this breeding! We chose not to have Bruno shorn this summer because we have such a short time for his fleece to grow back before autumn, which often times in Montana arrives with snow! He has such soft, silky fine fiber, and abundant as it is, he won't be shorn until spring 2025. Many llama ranches have only a few male herd sires, and if Bruno stays, he will be very welcomed to do so! As breeders, there is an expression that "you can't keep them all". Since we have his sire and dam, and a lot of males, some need to be sent off to other pastures. He is old enough to join your herd! Please ask if you have any inquiries about Bruno WRLR!

Completely gray llama baby!

| Male | Medium Gray

Our very own Star Angeleena has given us another fantastic cria - he is 100% gray! I have been trying to get the complete gray coverage in various pairings and last year, bred our Stone Crest's Maximus appy herd sire with Angeleena. He is an appy with a lot of gray, and it turned out to be the winning combination - finally, we (they) did it! This young boy is already strong and wow, is he fast! He has a very protective mom but she is having trouble keeping up with his antics of racing around the pastures with the other cria. He is conformationally perfect, with a straight back and has the regal stance of his mom, a phenotypical Suri with her long stretchy neck and long Suri tendrils. We will watch his fleece - will it be Suri or silky? For now, it is just super soft and a joy to play with him once we can distract his mom for a moment!

Mostly black/patch of intense brown

| Female | Black-intense/Brown-intense

A September birth in Montana is always risky - there is always a chance of snow. So, we were waiting out the arrival of this little girl after making it through all the summer heat, her momma, CNS Mahogany, finally had her cria on September 6, 2023. This little girl is the result of breeding CNS Mahogany with our own Star Best Bet. As she was born and throughout the next 24 hours, we thought we had a jet black cria, but realized almost like an illusion, that there is a patch of dark brown over part of her back and upper rear legs. Her fiber color is intense! CNS Mahogany is listed on this site. She is a very majestic looking llama. She is big boned with very heavy fleece, so the breeding was intentional to see what kind of fiber quality we could produce by adding in some Suri llama characteristics. Her sire, Star Best Bet, is a perfect Suri llama, and a very prolific herd sire. (Star Best Bet has his own page on this site) CNS Mahogany offspring have tended to be brown like her fleece, so breeding the rose gray Star Best Bet to CNS Mahogany, we were looking for very nice fiber but didn't know what color this match would produce! We seemed to have pulled this very jet-black color from one of her sire's ancestors, maybe Star Blacktacular! But looking closely, that blending in of brown color on her lower back and tops of her legs must be from CNS Mahogany! One thing is for sure - her fleece is very shiny, and she is starting to look like a silky, but we are still watching and waiting. Her name came as a result of friends of Windy Ridge Llama Ranch offered suggestions on Facebook. One friend came up with "Onyx" which we really liked, however, there was that intense brown area to be spoken for! We came up with her name - "Senorita Onyx y Marrone" - which added the Italian for brown into her name. She has a very big name to grow into, and we are hoping to present her in a "walking fleece" category when she's a little older!
